Let’s go outside today. Right on your block, you will probably find trees. And those trees will be in tree pits. Did you know that in New York City, there are about 700,000 trees planted at the sides of the streets???!!! That is a lot of trees!
When you go outside, think about why people would plant trees in the city. What is so good about having trees? What would it be like if the trees were not there?

Print out the sheet below, if you can. Take it outside on your block and fill out the chart to tell about the tree pits that you find!
You can even print two sheets, if you want to! Collect information about as many tree pits as you can!
