Drumroll please…..
And the block of the week is
it
Like in the word
Oh how many things we can do with this block! This one little – itty-bitty block of letters gives us so many words! So much to say and think and do and read and write!
Check it out!
Do each activity on the page below one at a time. At the end, you’ll send in your work.
- Find the words
- Read the words
- Write the words
- Write a sentence with the words
(1) Find the words!
Go get a grown-up! (You might have to wait until your grown up is free, because they might be busy.)
Then, ask your grown-up to read five of the words on the list below to you – one at a time. When you hear each word, see if you can find it in the list.
And here are the words. You can click the picture for a full screen list which you can print out if you want to.
(2) Read the words!
It’s your turn to read.
Look over the list of words again. This time, read as many words as you can. Can you read two of them?? Five of them? Ten? All of them???
No matter how many words you can read, the important thing is that you look through them, notice the patterns and give them a good try!
Here are the words again.
(3) Write the words!
On the page, put the date and, nice and big, put the spelling pattern that we are working on today.
Then look at the list of words again.
- Find two of the shortest words in the list. Write them on the first line as neatly and as carefully as you can.
- Find the longest word in the list. Write it on the next line as neatly and as carefully as you can.
- Find a word that has exactly 5 letters and write it on the next line.
- Find a word that ends in -ing and write it on the next line.
- Find your favorite word in the list. Write it as fancy as you can – maybe use bubble letters or cursive or swirly curlicues!
(4) Write a sentence
Pick two words from the list. Think of a sentence that uses both words. For an extra challenge, try to think of a sentence that uses three or four words from the list!
Here is an example…
The kittens are sitting in the kitchen!
