When we see a picture, or when we look out the window, or when we look at just about anything at all – we see some things in the foreground and some things in the background.

In Frida Kahlo’s self-portraits, she usually puts interesting things in the background. Look at this painting, for example. What do you see in the background???
Now, get ready to draw…
Sit in a spot where you can see a scene. You can even look out a window, if you want to. Make sure that you can see one main thing in the foreground, and make sure you can see things in the background.
Now, see if you can draw both the foreground and the background! It is not always so easy to do!!
